Chennai is known for its street vendors – whether it’s the street food stall by the beach, the tea shop at the junction corner or the flower vendor opposite the temple, they’re ubiquitous. They keep our city going and today, under lockdown, when the world has come to a standstill, these vendors have lost their daily bread & butter.

Unable to eat even 2 square meals a day, these families are starving during the pandemic.

United Way Chennai seeks to raise funds to provide a month’s pay for these vendors & their families. This money will go towards paying their home rent, electricity bills, medical expenses or even restart their business when life resumes.
- For a street vendor & his family in a Tier 1 city: Rs. 7000
- For a street vendor & his family in a Tier 2 city: Rs. 5000

Our target is to help 150 such families across Tamil Nadu.

The funds will be transferred directly to the vendors into their verified bank accounts.
