Over the last few years, it was reported that around 15,000 families living on the banks of the Coovum River and around 10,000 families living along the Adyar River Bank were relocated Perumbakkam, on account of post-flood rehabilitation measures.
Perumbakkam resettlement site has one Primary School and a High School within the settlement colony for entire 25,000 families. Many of the children are studying outside to Perumbakkam and have less access to quality of education and often struggle to sources of supportive school environment. We are sparked by high-profile cases involving children who commit violent crimes have escalated in Perumbakkam.
Therefore Turning Point Educational Trust is proposed to extend support of after school activities for the children from the poor slums.
Health, Education and Social Welfare assume greater importance in programs of slum improvement than housing and other public services, of them, education is the foremost single factor.
The main objective of raising funds through this initiative is to provide:
Life Skill Training Program
Exposure and Educational Tour
Apart from learning academics, a child will also learn other important life skills such as teamwork, good manners, unity, sharing, and responsibility.
Through the funds raised through this initiative, we would provide support to 80 to 120 children to adopt moral education, health care, personal hygiene, art and craft, sports and cultural enrichment through various activities.
All children should become cultured, educated and self-respecting citizens; children™s scientific temper should be nurtured; the habit of self-learning should be encouraged, is our objective.
